About Snelli
Built where the evening starts.
Snelli is made for psychotherapy practices, with psychotherapeutic expertise on the team and one decision that governs everything else: the processing stays on the practice’s own computer.
How it started
We turned the question around.
It began with something observed around a psychotherapy practice. The last session was over; the work was not. What came afterwards was progress notes, applications, reports. That was neither small nor something you finish on the side, and it fell into hours nobody pays for.
The AI tools available would have taken exactly that off the desk. But they require session content to travel to someone else’s servers. For a profession bound by confidentiality, that is not a detail: it is the reason to leave it alone.
So we turned the question around. Instead of asking how to secure the route to the cloud, we asked whether that route has to exist at all. The answer is Snelli: the speech recognition and the language model sit on the practice’s computer and do their work there.
The real problem
Not the documentation. The time it costs.
That documentation has to happen is not in question: it is a professional duty and good practice. The question is when that work takes place, who pays for it, and what you have had to give up so far in order to be rid of it.
The time after the session
The evening is the buffer
The fee calculation for statutory psychotherapeutic services allows roughly 20 minutes per session for practice management, documentation and billing. Across six sessions in a day that is two hours sitting behind the day rather than inside it, and they are precisely the hours in which the least concentration is left.

Work that is not paid for
A third of it never reaches an invoice
According to a survey of psychotherapists in private practice, 43.5 working hours a week stand against roughly 29 hours of treatment. About a third of the working time happens without patient contact. Progress documentation is not a billable item of its own: it is folded into the session. The report to the assessor can be billed, but as a flat fee: one that does not grow with the hours it actually takes.

Until now the way out led into the cloud
And that is where it ends
AI tools solve exactly this problem, by sending the recording to someone else’s servers. But what is said in a session is a person’s innermost self, entrusted to someone they trust and not to a data centre. Patients rightly expect it not to leave the room, and the duty of confidentiality under § 203 of the German Criminal Code demands the same. A tool that saves your evening and spends that trust to do it is not a good trade.

Co-developed with therapists
Built with the people who will be using it.
Snelli is not designed for practices and then presented to them. Templates, report structures and the order of the steps are reviewed from the psychotherapeutic side before they go into the application, and corrected during the pilot phase against the feedback of the practices taking part.
- Ciphers instead of names
- Snelli keeps records, notes and reports under ciphers. This adds protection for your patients’ identity. In Snelli it is set up that way from the start, not a setting you have to go looking for.
- Your method, your language
- Behavioural, psychodynamic, analytic or systemic: you set your focus once, and from then on Snelli writes in that language. Templates for notes and reports can be tailored by you.
- The boundary is built in
- Snelli produces no diagnoses and no treatment recommendations. Anyone creating their own template confirms this explicitly in the application. That is the line along which the division of labour runs, and the reason Snelli is not a medical device.
How it is laid out
Three places, and you always know which one you are in.
Snelli is a program on your own computer, not a web login and not a server account. What lives inside it is sorted along the path a session takes anyway.

The record
Patients under a cipher, master data, your own notes, and the tasks left open after a session. Personal fields are encrypted automatically; closed cases are archived rather than deleted.

The session
Record or dictate, have it transcribed locally, receive a draft in your template, review and approve. The audio recording is automatically deleted after transcription; the transcript can be saved at your own discretion.

The report
Combine several sessions into one report, attach your own documents, choose a template, export as PDF or Word. Templates for notes and reports are ready to use and can be adjusted.

All of it sits in an encrypted area on your hard drive that only you open, with your password. Billing and scheduling stay where they are today: Snelli is not a practice management system and has no ambition to become one.
The name
Why Snelli is called Snelli.
The name comes from Italian. snelli (or snello) means lean, nimble, agile. Figuratively the word stands for streamlined processes and for cutting red tape.
Which is exactly the point here: slimming down the administrative load, so that more time is left for the therapeutic work.
Lean, nimble, less red tape. The name is the specification.

What we are working on
Snelli is in its pilot phase.
This page is current as of September 2026.
We are working with a small number of practices, improving templates and workflows on the basis of their feedback, and preparing for general sale.
If you would like to be part of it, the pilot practices page has everything else.
