Privacy and security
Your patient data is in your hands. Snelli makes sure it stays there.
This page explains where your data sits, who can access it, and what that means for you.
The principle
No third party can see your session content.
Snelli processes session content solely on the device it is installed on. The speech recognition and the AI model run locally, on your own machine. There is no processing step at a service provider and no copy on a server.
This way of processing is known as “on-premise”, and it is expressly preferred in the guideline «Administrative KI in Ihrer Praxis» published by the German Federal Chamber of Psychotherapists:
„Bei der Speicherung der Daten auf einem lokalen Server zum Beispiel in der Praxis (On-premise-KI), also mit eigener Hardware, ist neben allgemeinen Sicherheitsvorkehrungen wie regelmäßigen Updates keine zusätzliche Verschlüsselung oder Anonymisierung der Daten notwendig.“Translation: “Where the data is stored on a local server, in the practice for example (on-premise AI), that is, on your own hardware, no additional encryption or anonymisation of the data is necessary beyond general security measures such as regular updates.”

Your patient data does not leave the device.
Encryption and access
The key is with you, and only with you.
Your data sits in an encrypted area on your hard disk. You open it with a master password that never leaves your device. You also receive a one-time recovery code.
That has a consequence you need to know about: We cannot reset your password. There is no back door, because a back door for us would also be one for everybody else. Store your recovery code as securely as your practice keys.
- No training
- The AI model used is a fixed, locally installed model rather than an online service. It does not learn from your sessions. Nothing you produce in Snelli feeds into any training, neither ours nor a model provider’s.
- Transparency about AI
- Snelli generates text with an AI model, and tells you at every point where a text was produced by machine. A draft stays a draft until you approve it.
- Deletion of recording and transcript
- The audio recording is automatically deleted by the system once the transcript is created. The transcript can be saved. The decision to keep it lies with the therapist.
- Not a medical device
- Snelli is not a medical device. The software supports documentation and administration; it makes no diagnoses, gives no treatment recommendations and takes no decisions about treatment. Every clinical assessment is yours. This intended purpose is expressly set out as such.
Your duty of confidentiality
§ 203 StGB applies exactly as before.
The duty of confidentiality under § 203 StGB applies unchanged when you use Snelli. Because no patient data is transmitted to us in normal use, no processor relationship over patient data arises as a rule.
